Teeness AS

Teeness' advanced knowledge of mechanical vibration has made the company a world leader for vibration suppression within the metalworking industry. The advanced tools are market under the name of Silent Tools®. Vibration suppression leads to greater precision, more efficient production and increased productivity. Effective suppression is not only apparent in the finished product, but while the tool is in use. Because vibration means noise – uncomfortable and distracting noise. Silent Tools® remove that noise.

Our history

It all started in 1897 when three gentlemen bought a mill and founded a nail factory later known as TNS.

 The Founders of TNS

In 1967, a student came along with an idea for an anti-vibration boring bar. A couple of years later one of the employees, Lauritz Andreassen, demonstrated the first damped boring bar. In 1986, when the company decided to concentrate 100% on toolholders, TEENESS was the natural choice for the "new" company's name.

An important milestone in the Teeness AS history is the move from the place where the factory has been established during more than 100 years, to a new factory. This big change took place in January 2008.

In June the same year, 2008, Teeness AS becamLogo Sandvik Coromante a part of the Sandvik Coromant group. Teeness AS will continue to produce damped tools and is a Competence Center for anti-vibration tools within the Sandvik Coromant group.

Silent Tools® is a definition of tool holder made to reduce vibrations due to a damper inside the tool body and is a trade mark of Teeness ASA. Damped boring bars are designed for high productivity, close tolerances and overhang beyond 4 x the bar diameter.
